With highs reaching the 80’s in recent days, the brand new swimming pool in Telluride’s town park is sure to garner increasing attention. The outdoor pool, which includes a new restroom and shower facility, was finished this spring, and is a significant improvement upon the previous pool; a 20 yard long, shallow and crowded area.
The new pool is 25 yards in length, which allows for legal lap swimming lengths and extra lanes for Telluride’s swim team and public users. This includes a deep end and 6 swimming lanes, in contrast to the previous shallow, shorter, five lanes.
The town of Telluride funded almost the entire necessary expense of $937,000 to construct the facility. The next phase of development includes a zero-depth entry pool with interactive play structures, and is slated for construction in 2017.
Adult day passes are $5 and children and seniors are $2.50. The pool opened on June 15th but is currently closed for Telluride Bluegrass Festival. All facilities will re-open immediately after the festival is over. The pool is a refreshing new addition to a plethora of outdoor activities available to locals and visitors of Telluride.
